My husband had a dysplastic mole removed and the doctor said that, although the mole was dysplatic and the cells were changing in the epidermis, it had not gone into the dermis or any lower. Does this mean we caught it before it has a chance of turning into melanoma?

Is it possible to have melanoma with no moles?

I guess what I am trying to ask is If someone has melanoma, does that mean it may not be cancerous???? or does it have to be malignant in order for the melanoma to be cancerous?

It started as a mole on the instep near my heal and grew darker and larger over the last few years. I saw a Dermatologist today who cut it out immediately and said he was fairly certain it was a melanoma; further that this is the most deadly form of skin cancer. As I await the biopsy results, I need to know more about what this means as far as treatment, spread?, stats, etc. Any helpful information?

(I have a history of SCC.) My dermatologist got a little biospy happy today on some moles on my back and it got me thinking (and paranoid, lol). He said he was very concerned w/ at least one of them but I always thought they were just freckles. But, then again, I don’t look at my back that closely either.
To clarify… How long can you have it, before it starts to spread?

I recently had one on Friday because both of my pinky toes are dark coloured and the dermatologist said that on the left one, the nail fold seems to have some pigmentation so he wants to make sure its not melanoma. I’m freaked out!!! I’m fearing the worst and I was just wondering if this happened to anyone. I thought my toes were like that because I used to wear exremely tight shoes but I guess the doc wants to make sure.

I have one on my back and am REALY scared.

I recently had some biopsies done and one mole in particular perfectly matched the “ABCD” signs of melanoma. Are there any statistics on cases where it matched physically but the results came back negative for cancer?
For more details just in case my question was unclear: I’d like stats on how often a mole is non-cancerous after a dermatologist said it fits the ABCDs of melanoma. I cannot find anything on the subject of how often a biopsy comes back either positive or negative. Thank you!!!
