My husband has an itchy mole and turns out to be Melanoma. Does anybody know what kind of this melanoma?

How fast this type of skin cancer grow? It start to itch around 1week before he went to see a doctor. Does anybody know whether it start to become melanoma when it start to itch or may be before it? Please help we are so concern about it.

    There is more than one type of melanoma. The only way to be sure is by examination and likely biopsy by a doctor.

    If melanoma is diagnosed early, the survival statistics are very good. Most stage 1 and stage 2 melanomas can be cured.
    One of the main factors affecting survival for people with melanoma is the thickness of the tumour when it is diagnosed. (Thickness is part of the staging for melanoma, so you can read more about it on the melanoma stages page.)
    The itch indicated a change in your husband’s mole…
    The presence of moles will not cause you serious problems. But large numbers, more than 25, are an indication of susceptibility to melanoma. So you should take great care about exposure to sunlight.
    If there is a family history of malignant melanoma, you should be particularly vigilant about changing moles.
    What are the symptoms of malignancy?
    * The mole is itchy and painful.
