The ER will not get you anywhere. You need to see a Specialist, to where the ER will sent you.

There are more possibilities for you symptoms. One of them could be allergies, smoking, infections, and on.
Do not panic. See the ER when you have trouble breathing. You have to get that checked out.

You are a little young to have throat cancer. What age did you start smoking?

You are most likely to have a virus.

The ER is a suitable place to be checked out. Your family doctor could do just as well. You might NOT need referral to a specialist.

Try to get hold of some soluable aspirin if you are not allergic to it, and dissolve it and gargle the solution.

Or have some other pain relief – paracetamol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen might be helpful.

    Drink plenty of fluids

    Quit smoking

See your doctor and get checked. If it is tonsillitis you will need antibiotics. If it is a viral throat infection you just keep doing the simple stuff for pain relief and fluids. If it is a throat cancer you may need surgery.

I’ve had throat cancer twice and no, you don’t sound like you have cancer. You sound more like you have an upper respitory problem, or even something as simple as a cold. If you are truly concerned go to your Dr. That’s the person to put you at ease. Best of luck to you, hope you feel better very soon.
